Tuesday crash on SR 25 claims life of Peru man
A 28-year-old Peru man was killed Tuesday morning from injuries he received in a semi-car crash on SR 25 approximately one mile north of Burrows. The collision occurred at 7:48 a.m.
According to the report by investigating officer, ISP Sgt. Dan Ziegler, Brian Jobe was traveling northbound on SR 25 in a 2008 Dodge Charger. A blue 1997 Conventional Freightliner pulling an empty box trailer, driven by Kenneth D. Pass, 59, Goshen, was southbound on SR 25. The Charger pulled out to pass another semi northbound when he hit the southbound Freightliner head on. The Freightliner ended up in a bean field on the west side of the road and the Charger ended up in the middle of the highway.
Jobe was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt trauma to the body. He was wearing a seatbelt and airbags were deployed but the crash was so severe that safety equipment was ineffective, according to Ziegler.
Pass was transported by ambulance to Logansport Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Traffic was halted for approximately two hours before the road was reopened.
The investigation is continuing.
According to Ziegler's report, road conditions at the time of the crash were dry but a light fog was present.
Assisting at the scene were ISP Captain Ed Schroder, ISP Sergeant Kim Riley, ISP Trooper Detective Stephen Buckley, Carroll County Sheriff's Department, Rockfield Fire and Rescue, Liberty Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, Delphi Fire and Rescue, Carroll County EMS, and the Carroll County coroner.
