Comet staff report

With school just around the corner, Delphi Community School MOP Squad president Sharon Milburn asks the community, businesses and individuals to help them to provide needed school supplies for prekindergarten through fifth grade students.

In the past, the MOP Squad has collected donations and supplies from different individuals and community business and organizations for students whose parents were unable to purchase school supplies.

This year the squad is asking for the community's assistance again to help eradicate the chance that a child may begin school with an empty backpack.

Supplies needed, in quantities of 25, are black sharpie markers, any color of highlighters, black or blue dry erase markers, washable markers, pointed and rounded end scissors, large boxes of tissues, boxes of eight crayons and boxes of 16 crayons. Supplies may be dropped off at any of the following locat ions: DCES office from now until Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.; anytime at the Carroll County Comet office in Delphi; DCHS commons Aug. 5 and 6 from noon until 8 p.m. or at the DCSC Extended Care Program Old Settlers table Aug. 5 through 8 from 5 to 8 p.m.

All donations must be received by Aug. 8 by 8 p.m. to ensure ample time to distribute supplies to the students.

For information, contact Sharon Milburn at (765) 564- 9221.
