Vacation Bible School in Flora
Photo provided VBS gift to Congo guests
The banner pictured above, made by Joan Jackson, was presented to Rev. Ilumbe and Rosette Ndjongo of the Congo at the United VBS in Flora. The leaves of the tree were made in the shape of children's hands, and the VBS children wrote their names on the hands. Pictured holding the banner, l-r, are Lily Meyer and Molly McGill. The Indiana Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has a partnership with churches in the Congo. The guests from the Congo were in Indiana to visit Disciples churches and attend the denomination's General Assembly in Indianapolis. They also took time to visit the local VBS.

Rev. Ilumbe and Rosette Ndjongo from the Congo visited the United Vacation Bible School in Flora and took part in the closing program. He is the equivalent of a regional minister in the Congo. The Bible school offering went for the purchase of motorized canoes for pastors in the Mbandaka District of the Congo. They travel by river because of the poor condition of the roads. Joining together for the United VBS were the Flora First Christian Church, where the Bible school was held, and Flora and Cutler Presbyterian churches.
