Friends organize benefit for DCHS teacher

Comet staff report

Benefit events will be held this weekend for Delphi Community High School teacher Judi Brummett.

Brummett was diagnosed with colon cancer in May. She recently finished a lengthy round of chemotherapy and radiation treatments and is scheduled for surgery in September. Additional treatments will follow her surgery.

On Saturday, a benefit garage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Delphi Community High School. On Sunday beginning at noon in the DCHS parking lot several events will take place during the afternoon until 4. These events will include a cake walk, dunk tank, silent art/miscellaneous auction, bingo, hair cut-a-thon, face painting, football throw, basketball shoot, hula-hoop, mini-manicures, yard sale and car wash. There will also be food, drink and music.

All proceeds will help the Brummett family with her medical expenses.

Chairing the weekend benefit are Karla Banes of Delphi and Becky Lehe of Brookston.
