C. Wayne Rush
C. Wayne Rush, 65, Delphi, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 8:15 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital Central in Lafayette.
Born Nov. 27, 1943, in Rogersville, Tenn., he was the son of David L. and Jessie Hicks Rush. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1961. His marriage was on Nov. 27, 1971, in Delphi, to Judith E. Arnold, who preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 2003.
Mr. Rush was a driver for Rishel Trucking in Delphi for 30 years, hauling grain for area farmers and elevators. Prior to that, he was the assistant supervisor at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Power Plant for 12 years.
He was a member of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division.
He was a former member of the Monticello Moose Lodge, Logansport Eagles, NRA, and a life member of the Delphi American Legion Post #75.
He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Dean Rush (wife: Diane) of Monticello and Jeffery A. Rush (wife: Tina) of Knoxville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Brian and David Busch, both of Delphi; one stepdaughter, Shannon Hinojosa of Frankfort; a grandson, Brodie Brooks (whom he raised) of Delphi; two brothers, David "Doc" Rush (wife: Ginger) of Brownsville, Texas, and Robert Rush of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Yates of Zephryhills and Lois Noland (husband: Bobby) of Coryton, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Richard Rush; a brother, Alan Rush; a stepson, Alan Busch, and a sister, Louise Rush.
Services were held Monday at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiated. Burial followed at the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
