Flora-Monroe Twp.

The last event of the summer reading season will be a party! We love to celebrate at the Flora Library, and we will mark the end of summer reading with a bang. Come party with us; we'll have games, an edible craft, treats, and lots of "creative" fun. The program is also a reception for the art classes in June. Many of the finished pieces are displayed in the library's Richter Program Room. The instructor, Grace Woodruff, will be available to explain the projects and techniques used. At the end of the party, art students will be able to take their creations home.

We will also have our raffle drawings during the party. Summer reading participants have until the event to finish their reading records to be eligible for the raffle prizes. The End of Summer Reading Party is July 23 at 2 p.m.

Flora's discussion of "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson, led by library director Melissa Bishop, was this morning at the Flora Senior Center. A special thanks to Mary Jo Redmon, Flora Senior Center Director, for hosting this event. Look for upcoming discussions of the Carroll County on the Same Page selection at the Delphi and Camden public libraries.

Storytime is ending for a few weeks but kids can always hear great stories by calling the library's Dial-a-Story line. The story currently playing is, "The Fox and the Rooster." Friday the story changes to, "The Price is High." Call Dial-a-Story at 967-3814.

Camden

Twenty children attended the summer reading program at the Camden-Jackson Twp. Public Library last Wednesday. Activities centered around a drama theme. The children made their own card stock faces mask with wooden handles. Lots of craft supplies were on hand to decorate them. From clown faces to animal faces, the children used their imagination to design their own unique mask.

Following craft time the children explored wooden African masks. Some of the masks on display were thin, while some were fat. Each wooden mask had carvings, making beautiful designs. The children took crayons and paper to "rub" the masks to duplicate the designs and texture.

Following story time door prizes were awarded to each child in attendance and refreshments of No Bake Cookies were served on the front porch of the library.

Children will be traveling to the Peru Circus on July 15 as a reward for completing the summer reading program.

Stop by the library and pick up a copy of the latest Carroll County on the Same Page book to enjoy. This year's selection is "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson. Several copies are available.
