Acreage reporting deadline for crops and CRP approaching

Comet staff report

The Carroll County Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced that time is quickly running out to certify CRP and crop acreage with the agency.

Acreage reports are required for many FSA programs and for crops other than NAP (Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program) crops that need to be certified by the July 15 deadline on small grains and all other crops including Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).

Filing an accurate acreage report for all crops and land uses including failed acreage and prevented planting acreage can prevent the loss of benefits for a variety of programs.

Failed acreage must be reported within 15 days of the disaster event and before disposition of the crop. Prevented planting must be reported no later than 15 days after the final planting date. The corn final planting date was June 5 and the final planting date for soybeans was June 20.

Acreage reports for small grains and for all other crops for which NAP assistance may be paid are due in the county office by July 15 or 15 calendar days before the onset of harvest or grazing of the specific crop acreage being reported.
