Historical and architectural survey begins in county
Public invited to kickoff meeting
      Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, and the Ball State University Center for Historic Preservation are collaborating to identify all of Carroll County's historic sites and structures.

Don't take a vacation from giving blood
      The need for blood doesn't end when vacations begin. The American Red Cross is asking potential donors to help strengthen the blood supply by volunteering to give blood now. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Flora United Methodist Church, 107 N. Main Street, on July 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

      Business Women Delphi Business Women met June 23 in the Carroll County Courthouse lounge for the club's annual Tea Party. Each member brought a teacup and told the story of how it was acquired or its origin. Various flavors of tea and cookies were enjoyed by all present.

      A team from Logansport Memorial Hospital hosted a table-top disaster exercise for Cass, Carroll and White counties that was attended by more than 80 people.

      Deer Creek Presbyterian Church will serve its monthly breakfast on Saturday at the church. This is a benefit to serve the community. A freewill offering will be taken. Faith Lutheran Church will have its Sunday worship service with a outside service, weather permitting. Steve Martin will lead the service that starts at 10:10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

State's new teen driver law goes into effect July 1
      Beginning today, July 1, Indiana will implement new Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) requirements for probationary drivers (under the age of 18). Because young drivers are at greater risk for crashes and fatalities, specific restrictions have been put into place to help teens safely travel Indiana's roadways.

Unemployment insurance system changes take effect July 1
      Several changes to the unemployment insurance system will take effect today, July 1, due to the passage of House Enrolled Act 1379, the Unemployment Trust Fund Bill. Key claimant components of this legislation include: Claimants must submit one job application per week.

SR 25 closing during construction
      The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that State Road 25 between State Road 218 and U.S. 24/35 in Cass County will be closed July 6 through late August. This will allow crews to perform small structure replacement construction over Longcliff Creek, 0.23 miles south of U.S. 24/35.

Martin is state FFA president
      Carroll FFA Chapter attended the Indiana State FFA Convention June 15- 16. The chapter won many awards during the week, but the highlight of the convention was on the last night when Travis Martin of the local chapter was elected the 2009-2010 state president.

      Camden Last Wednesday 27 children attended the Camden Summer Reading Program. The children enjoyed watching the movie, "Tom Sawyer," followed by a discussion on how the people in that era dressed, talked, had no electricity and traveled by horses.

Cass County Dog Show
      Carroll County 4-Hers competed in the Cass County 4-H Fun Dog Show held on June 27. Lily Anderson won a special award, the Top Girl Award, for the entire show.

      Librarians from the Camden Jackson Township Public Library, Flora-Monroe Township Public Library, and Delphi Public Library are following up last summer's successful "Carroll County on the Same Page" program with another great book suggestion to include on summer reading lists.

Completes basic training
      Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Adam D. Lair has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
