Carroll County has a lot to be proud of these days…..

Kudos to the Delphi Preservation Society for a successful opening of the Opera House Gallery of Contemporary Art Friday night. What a fine addition to the historic Opera House building and to the City of Delphi. The addition of an extra community gathering room is a welcomed addition to the community, too.

Kudos to the Flora Lions and Idlers Car clubs for another great Hog Jog Day event Saturday. Over 700 enthusiastic runners and walkers turned out for the run/walk, while over 200 hot cars registered for the cruise-in. Club members put in a lot of hours organizing these long-standing events. The people they draw to Flora are a testament to their ability to host first-class events.

Kudos to the Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Association. This group knows how to put on a grand event! Saturday's dedication of the new replica canal boat, "The Delphi," was complete with Vintage Brass band, dignitaries, boat rides, vintage bicycles, and ice cream. Visitors could not ask for more.

Kudos to Delphi Municipal Airport for hosting an outstanding day Sunday during the Heritage Transportation Festival. The always popular helicopter and airplane rides are an opportunity for the community visitors to learn about and appreciate general aviation's contribution to modern-day transportation as well as to the local community.

Kudos to the Flora Presbyterian Church members for their effort to help the unemployed, by hosting two job seeking events. The first, scheduled for July 1, will give participants an opportunity to LEARN about the resources and training available to build skills, write resumes, prepare for interviews, and search for employment. The second event, July 8, attendees will meet with potential employers at a job networking session event. With unemployment in Indiana breaking double digits, this is a great way for the community to pull together to help hurting families and individuals.

It is important for everyone to recognize these events and people who provide valuable services and opportunities for growth and development.

Good job Carroll County!
