Forty-seven participants in the Camden Summer Reading Program traveled to Lafayette last Wednesday. The first stop was McGuire Music Store. The children were shown guitars of all colors and shapes, electric guitars, drums, harmonicas, mandolins, xylophones, and other music related items.

The next stop was Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Dance instructor, Corey, demonstrated how to dance the "Swing," After instruction from Corey everyone was flowing across the dance floor.

Following lunch at Mc- Donald's, the last stop was Uniquely Yours Pottery and Glass Shop. Owner Emily Ohland shared a story called "The Lonely Firefly." Everyone painted a six-inch tile and Ohland demonstrated how to paint and stencil a firefly on the tiles.

After a full day in Lafayette, a quiet ride back to Camden was enjoyed.

This Wednesday the children will watch a movie about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

The library will be closed July 4 and will re-open July 6 at 10 a.m.

Faith Based Book Club will meet June 25 at 9 a.m. to discuss "Mistaken Identity," the real-life story of Laura VanRyn's and Whitney Cerak's case of mistaken identity and their families who describe their ordeal.

Morning Book Club will meet June 26 at 9 a.m. to review "Remembering the Bones" by Francis Itani. This is a fictional account of an octogenarian who lies stranded and helpless from a car accident as she reflects on her role as mother, sister, wife and widow, on lost loves and painful secrets.

Red Brick Theatre will perform "Black Comedy," a oneact comedy during Old Settlers weekend in the Ruffing Opera House. The story is about a starving artist who catches a break when a famous collector agrees to come to his flat to take a look at some of his works. When a fuse blows, the evening turns into chaos and mistaken identities while everyone moves about in the dark. The cast includes Jimmy Reed, Grace Currie, Andrew Martin, Chris Mayfield, Kendall Baker, Kayla Haley, Sara Brosman, and Eric Reece.

It's time for America's birthday party! Come celebrate the Fourth of July with your preschooler at the library. Deb Foreman of Flora's United Methodist Church Playschool will have stories, a fun Uncle Sam craft and of course - a parade! Preschool Patriotic Fun with Miss Deb will be next Tuesday, June 30, at 10 a.m.

Take time out of your busy activities to enjoy the film adaptation of an award winning children's book. Tomorrow (Thursday, June 25) kids can see the animated film, "The Tale of Desperaux." Refreshments will be served during the matinee. The movie will begin at 1 p.m. in the library's Richter Program Room.

Gather your photos and spend a Saturday afternoon creating memories. Stefanie Hawkins is hosting a Scrapbooking Crop this Saturday, June 27. Make new friends as you craft your scrapbook pages and organize your family photographs. Bring your scrapbooking tools and supplies with you. There will also be supplies available.

If you prefer digital scrapbooking, bring your laptop to the crop. Stefanie will be available for help and ideas for digital and traditional scrapbooking. The crop will be from 1 - 4 p.m.
