If you've ever wanted the recipe for some of the most popular products on your grocer's shelves, the next couple of weeks are for you. This week, we highlight some favorite sauces and mixes. You'll always find these two popular sauces on the table at your favorite steakhouse. For copyright purposes, we'll call them Alpha Uno and Five Score & Seven, And, you'll definitely want to stock up on two popular dressing mixes - one ranch (Unseen Canyon) and one Italian (Pleasant Time of Year).
Bring all ingredients to a boil, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let cool. Puree in blender until smooth and pour into a bottle. Tightly seal and refrigerate for up to three months.
Five Score & Seven Steak Sauce 1/2 C. raisins 2/3 C. ketchup 1 tsp. chili powder 1 tsp. seasoned salt 1/2 C. applesauce 2 T. bottled Italian dressingCombine all ingredients and blend for 2 minutes or until smooth. Bottle and tightly seal. Keep refrigerated for up to 3 months.
Unseen Canyon Dressing Mix 15 saltine crackers 2 C. dried minced parsley 1/2 C. dried minced onion 2 T. dried dillweed 1/4 C. onion salt 1/4 C. garlic salt 1/4 C. onion powder 1/4 C. garlic powderBlend crackers till powdered. Add parsley, onion and dill and blend until powdered. Stir in onion salt, garlic salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Store in tightly sealed jar. To make dressing, combine 1 tablespoon of mix with 1 C. mayonnaise and 1 C. buttermilk. Shake in jar until well blended and keep refrigerated.
Pleasant Time of the Year Dressing Mix 1 T. garlic salt 1 T. onion powder 1 T. sugar 2 T. dried oregano 1 tsp. black pepper 1/4 tsp. dried thyme 1 tsp. dried basil 1 T. dried parsley 1/4 tsp. celery salt 2 T. saltCombine all ingredients and store in tightly sealed jar. To make dressing, combine 2/4 C cider vinegar, 2/3 C oil, 2 T water and 2 T mix. Shake well.
