Hickman Hickman Don Hickman, Jr., principal broker of Hickman Auctions and Realty, Inc., was presented the World Champion Auctioneer Award by the Society of Professional Auctioneers at recent ceremonies.

In making the presentation, the society's president, Ron King, noted that Hickman has been in the business some 23 years. "During that time, Don has sold just about everything from apples to zebras. One of the most unusual items he has auctioned was racing homing pigeons, many selling for hundreds of dollars."

The Auctioneers Society honored Hickman not only with a trophy but also presented him with a framed certificate that recognized Hickman's "superior professionalism, knowledge, integrity and bid calling." It went on to note that Hickman dedicated his professionalism to "preserving and promoting the auction methods and practices of marketing with leadership and excellence."

Hickman's company is based in Camden where he and family operate the Camden Auction Barn. At a luncheon reception given by family and friends at the Carroll County Country Club, Hickman praised "the support and dedication of his family for making the entire operation the success it is."

The Camden Auction Barn has auctions every Friday night, starting at 6 p.m., operating two auction rings simultaneously, he added.

In addition to the busy schedule the auction and real estate operations demand, Hickman also teaches Auctioneering Continuing Education and Auction School.
