Rossville names top two
Shideler Rossville Middle/High School announces its valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2009. They each spoke at the commencement ceremony May 30.
Valedictorian is Rebecca Leanne Shideler, and salutatorian is Nicholas Grady.
Shideler is the daughter of John and Pam Shideler of Lafayette. Her school activities included secretary of National Honor Society, varsity cheerleader, Primetime, fall plays and musicals, co-president of Sophisticated Ladies, and jazz band. She is a member of Dayton United Methodist Church and youth leader.
She received the Academic Honors Diploma. Her senior awards included top student in English, calculus award, and outstanding student in theatre production. She received the following scholarships: Hoosier Scholar, McClamroch Scholarship, Purdue University Presidential Scholarship, and Rossville Lions Club Community Service Scholarship.
Shideler plans to attend the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University and study marketing or finance.
Grady is the son of Tara and Maureen Grady of Lafayette. He played soccer and was a member of National Honor Society, concert choir, and FFA. Other activities have included Boy Scouts and a volunteer at St. James food pantry.
Grady Grady graduated with the Academic Honors Diploma. He received an award in English and the following scholarships: McClamroch Scholarship, Rossville FFA/Jeff Eller Memorial Scholarship, and Rossville Lions Club Community Service Scholarship.
He plans to attend Purdue University and study general health sciences with a premedical concentration.
