Clem JEFFREY P. MANNING graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and sociology and departmental honors in education from Bucknell University. He also received dean's list recognition for the spring semester.
He is the son of Paul and Susan Manning of Bringhurst, and a 2005 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School.
Two students from Delphi have been named to the dean's list at Wabash College for the spring 2009 semester. They are: KYLE BENDER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Bender, and SHANE EVANS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Evans.
The National FFA Organization awarded a $1,000 Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) scholarship to CHANDLER KEOWN, son of Steve and Melissa Keown of Flora. The scholarship is one of 1,462 awarded through the National FFA Scholarship Program this year.
Scholarship recipients were selected from 7,810 applicants from across the country. Selections were based on the applicant's academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agricultural experience program in agricultural education and future goals.
Smith PETER WOODRUFF of Cutler received a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies from Hamilton College (New York) during commencement exercises on May 24. He is the son of Anthony and Grace Woodruff.
ALECIA WALTON of Delphi received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry during ceremonies held May 9 in Bloomington.
Dr. Walton will practice in Knoxville, Tenn., starting in July.
A 2001 graduate of Delphi Community High School, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Indianapolis in 2005. She is the daughter of Ken and Kathy Walton. CHRISTOPHER CLEM of Cutler has completed eight weeks of supervised on-the-job training at Rodkey Brothers, Inc., a New Holland dealer in Rossville.
Clem completed requirements of the Illinois Central College (ICC) Diesel Powered Equipment Technology Program and graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree in May.
On-the-job training provided the students an opportunity to apply the skills they have acquired during their freshman year of training at ICC. Participating students were required to perform many of the same tasks as fulltime technicians of the business.
Clem was supervised at Rodkey Brothers by lead technician Chris Martin.
Clem, a graduate of Rossville High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Clem.
LORI SMITH of Cutler received her Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer on May 2. She has been accepted into Valpo University School of Law beginning in the fall.
She participated in many activities, including the only woman to drive in the Little 500 on campus in 2008. She was nominated as Senator of her dorm, was president of Students In Free Enterprise for two years and president of the Volleyball Club for two years. She also was on the Dean's List all three years of college.
She is the daughter of Craig and Dana Smith and granddaughter of Eileen Smith, all of Cutler.
