Horn Horn DENIS HORN has joined the staff at Hippensteel Funeral Service and Crematory in Lafayette as funeral director.

Horn has been licensed as a funeral director for 36 years, including ownership of the Horn Funeral Home in Delphi, from 1982-1999.

Horn also has served extensively in healthcare management, specializing in healthcare services for the senior population.

ROSSVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT is one of 74 rural and volunteer fire departments from 48 counties in Indiana that have been awarded more than $268,000 in Volunteer Fire Assistance grants.

VFA grants may be used for training, installation of dry hydrants, or to purchase fire fighting equipment and personal protective gear.

Rossville VFD received $3,686 for safety equipment.

The grants are administered by the DNR Division of Forestry and are made available through the U.S. Forest Service.

The Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA) held its regional meeting May 18 at The Trails in Lafayette. Delphi Community School Corporation was represented by president ROBERT RESLER, board member CHRIS NIPPLE and superintendent RALPH WALKER.

Executive director Dr. Frank Bush, an ISBA lobbyist, presented details of newly enacted legislation. General counselor David Emmert delivered an update about legal issues. ISBA requested suggestions from local board members for proposed legislation to be used by the legislative committee for presentation to the delegate assembly during the 2009 ISBA/IAPSS Fall Conference.

The ISBA conducts meetings in each of its 10 regions across the state to discuss the effect the 2009 Indiana General Assembly will have on the operation of Indiana's public schools.
