Telephone scam hits local residents
2009-06-03 / Community
Several residents reported to the Delphi Police Department they have received automated telephone calls from Security Federal Bank and Salin Bank. The caller informs the listener there has been a security breach to their credit or debit card.
The listener is instructed to press "1" to reach the security department and then instructed to enter their bank account routing number. According to Delphi Police Chief Justin Darling the calls are not legitimate and should be ignored. The listener should give no response and disconnect the line.
Residents are urged to register their telephone numbers on the National Do Not Call List by going online at donotcall.gov.
