Responding to a need
      Presbyterian Women of the First Presbyterian Church of Delphi recently donated blankets and hats to Birthright and the local WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Office to be given to new mothers and their babies.

      CARROLL SCHOOL BOARD'S regular meeting, scheduled for June 2, has been changed to Wednesday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Administration Building. DELPHI ART CLUB will meet June 4 at 7 p.m. in the Flora Senior Center. The program will be given by Nancy Fowler on Painting on Rocks. This is the month the Winter Challenge is due.

      WACKY WEDNESDAY SENIOR MOVIE DAY sponsored by Area IV Agency on Aging will present "27 Dresses" June 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the East Side 9 Movie Theater off SR26E in Lafayette. A breakfast snack will be served at 9 a.m. Movie days for seniors 55 and older will be the second Wednesday of each month from now until October.

      Burlington Calling all campers! Come join the Burlington Community Library for its summer reading program, "Camp Read-A-Lot." The program runs June 22-25. Children preschool through first grade will meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children in second through fifth grades will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. There will be lots of activities and reading fun!

Adams Township Alumni Association
      The Adams Township Alumni Association held its annual school reunion banquet May 16 at the Beehive Gymnasium in Burnettsville. Sixty-one people attended. Bob and Margaret Burris Suiter, Class of 1944, and Dudley Spence, Ernestine Brown Spence and Charlene Wood Woodhouse, Class of 1949, were honored with red roses.

Telephone scam hits local residents
      Several residents reported to the Delphi Police Department they have received automated telephone calls from Security Federal Bank and Salin Bank. The caller informs the listener there has been a security breach to their credit or debit card.

Carroll County Sheriff calls Monon girl a hero
      According to the Carroll County Sheriffs Department, Micaila Marie Cooley, 8, of Monon, is a hero thanks to classroom training on emergency situations that she received while attending Monon Elementary School.

      Dustin Coronado and Lacey Huddleston of Flora are parents of a 7-pound, 10-ounce daughter, Malaia Aviana Coronado, born May 22 at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. Grandparents are Reba Huddleston of Kokomo and Francisco and Charlene Coronado of Flora. Paternal greatgrandparents are Sotera Coronado of San Antonio, Texas, and Bonnie Rieken of Flora.

Proclamation honors Special Olympics Indiana's 40th anniversary
      Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has issued a proclamation designating this week, May 31 - June 7, as Special Olympics Week in Indiana. This proclamation recognizes the founding of Special Olympics Indiana, on June 6, 1969, and the 40th anniversary celebration that is taking place in honor of this momentous occasion.

      Hopewell Cemetery Board will meet June 7 at 2 p.m. at the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church. Any interested person is welcome to attend. Deer Creek Community Center is hosting a Bingo Party at the center on Friday at 6:30 p.m. There will be door prizes.

      Park Board will meet at 7 p.m. June 3 in the Community Park Building. Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the town hall. Kiwanis Club will meet at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the fire station for breakfast and meeting. The club will be serving lunch at an auction in Lafayette as a fundraiser on Saturday.

Wildcat Creek festival is Saturday
      The fifth annual Celebrate Wildcat Creek festival will be held at historic Adams Mill near Cutler from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 6. The event honors the creek that passes through five counties. The public is invited to join the fun of enjoying the creek in one of its most scenic and historic spots.

      Summer swim at the Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School pool began Monday and will continue through July 24. The pool is open from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Bus pick up is available as follows: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - 12:45 p.m.

      Conservation Day Camp Youth interested in "Wildlife, Fishing, Forestry, Entomology, Soil & Water Conservation, and Outdoor Cooking" are invited to attend the Area 8 Conservation Day at France Park on June 9.
