Reader's comments:

I think this law should include EVERYONE, who uses cell phone while driving, and not just the young people. When people drive a motor vehicle of any kind, they should be totally alert and concentrate on the safe driving of those ton/s of steel and metal... If you need to talk on your phone, pull off the road and park, then talk. What in the world did we do before cell phones ???

I don't see how banning 18 year olds from talking on a cell phone while driving is going to solve anything. The temptation is still going to be there. What is the difference between an 18-year-old and 55-year-old talking on a cell phone while driving? Very little - maybe a slight increase of quicker reflexes but that is all. It's just another detail for the authorities to notice while on patrol such as looking out for people speeding, not wearing a seat belt, DWI/OWI. I don't think authorities are going to see someone talking on a cell phone while driving with the following factors involved - tinted windows, person's age, size of the cell phone. It is a great idea, but I don't really see how it is going to work.
