Don Lowery
Circa 1952 Don Lowery, 80, of Flora, died at 4:48 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Heathcare
Center in Delphi.
Born July 12, 1928, in Flora, he was the son of Jesse "J.C." and Ruth Richter Lowery. He graduated from Flora High School in 1947. On Jan. 8, 1950, in Flora, he married Phyllis Tocco, who survives.
An Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
Mr. Lowery farmed for 36 years.
He and the late Dr. John Bush started the animal control program in Flora, which he ran for 12 years.
He was active in 4-H and the Boy Scouts.
He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and visiting the Knightstown Children's Home.
Mr. Lowery was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite and the American Legion.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Tina Albaugh (husband: David) of Flora; his twin, Dean Lowery (wife: Eunice) of Flora; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Shelby Albaugh.
Services were held Tuesday at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora. Pastor Jeff Tomson officiated. Burial with military graveside rites followed at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.
