Carroll Commencement is Saturday

Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School will hold its 48th annual Commencement May 23 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Gymnasium.

There are 80 students in this year's graduating class.

The high school band, under the direction of Donald Pettit, will play the prelude concert and the processional, "Pomp and Circumstance."

The opening will be given by senior Kevin Knaus.

Senior choir members and choirs, under the direction of Joe Spence, will sing "How You Live" by Point of Grace.

Principal Charles Huckstep will recognize outstanding seniors, including the Carroll Honor Award recipient, Sarah Griffin.

Addresses will be given by Senior Class president Lauren Wilkinson and by the valedictorian(s) and salutatorian.

The high school choir will sing "Inscription of Hope" by Z. Randall Stroope.

Huckstep will present the Class of 2009, and Superintendent John Sayers will accept the graduates. Assistant Principal Fred Schnarr will read the names of the graduates as Huckstep presents the diplomas.

"Multimedia Memories," created by Malena Zook, will feature senior sights and sounds.

Senior Riley Eller will give the closing, followed by the recessional played by the high school band.

Weather permitting, the new graduates will greet their family and friends outside the gymnasium in the school parking lot immediately following the ceremony.

Military enlistees are Seth Larimore and Robert Welch.

Senior Class officers are Lauren Wilkinson, president; Travis Martin, vice president; Malena Zook, secretary; and Megan Garrison, treasurer.

Class colors are blue and white, class flower is the white rose, and class song is "How Far We've Come" (Matchbox 20). The class chose as its motto, "Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or a lifetime is certain for those who are friends." (by Richard Bach) Class sponsor is Tyler Sausaman.
