Carroll County residents 'arrested' to benefit MDA
Several Carroll County residents volunteered last Thursday to go behind bars in an effort to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Community members were encouraged to participate by helping their fellow neighbors get out of jail.
The MDA Lock-Up was held at the Wabash & Erie Canal Center. Several local businesses supported the event. Dick Krieg Automotive supported the Lock Up with a monetary donation and providing transportation for the "jailbirds." Two of the top jailbirds were Anne Edwards from Delphi Marathon and Bill Shepler from The Andersons Inc., Logansport.
MDA is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to conquering more than 40 neuromuscular diseases that affect a million Americans of all ages.
The Carroll County Lock- Up helped to foster new hope for patients in north central Indiana. MDA takes pride in the fact that the money raised locally stays in the local community where it is raised. MDA disburses its funds through neighboring districts so that local patients in every area receive the appropriate funding.
The funds raised will provide the following for patients in Carroll County: $2,000 for a purchase of a wheelhair or leg braces $500 for repairs to equipment $30 for a flu shot $85 for 1 minute of research 1 support group session totaling $100 Clinic visits to local hospitals $800 sends one child age 6-17 to summer camp
