Low-cost fundraising training open to Indiana youth workers

2009-05-13 / Community

The recession is causing many foundations, corporations and even individuals to rethink philanthropic giving, according to the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI). Fundraising skills are at a premium for non-profits relying on gifts and grants to survive making leaders look for ways to stretch resources.

In an effort to address both of these concerns, IYI is offering youth workers a lowcost, two-day training to help create a fundraising process that works even with limited resources.

Fundraising for Small Nonprofits workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 27-28 at the Junior Achievement Conference Center, 7435 N. Keystone Ave. in Indianapolis.

The workshop will be taught by faculty of The Fundraising School at Indiana University. Participants will learn to build a convincing case for financial support, select donors and markets best suited to the needs of their nonprofits and choose the right fundraising vehicles for their organizations. Participants will also receive a comprehensive study guide with models for future reference. Both days of the workshop must be attended to receive continuing education credits.

Individuals may register online with a credit card at iyi.org/training.
