Prayer…America's hope

"May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You." Psalm 33:22

As American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, President Franklin Roosevelt called for the United States to unite in prayer. He also offered a prayer to prepare each citizen for the road ahead. "Let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be. And, O Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in Thee."

Today, the need for prayer is as great as ever. This nation again faces battlefields, and an array of social and moral issues. This nation must ask the Lord to bless leaders with wisdom and protection, and that this country will have the fortitude to overcome the challenges at hand.

Many churches in the area have united to offer the Carroll County community the opportunity to come together at Riley Park on May 7 to pray for government, military, media, business, education, church and family. Those attending should meet at the gazebo (shelter house in case of rain) from noon until 12:45 p.m. to participate in this 58th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. Everyone is invited.
