Eel River members earn Presidential award
The Presidential Award of Excellence for Community Volunteer Work was recently awarded to nine members of the Eel River Tribe of Indiana for their hours spent volunteering for community service projects.
The tribe sponsored a Canoe-a-thon for Riley Hospital for Children, donated real estate to Habitat for Humanity, was involved in the 8,000 Drums - A Worldwide Prayer and purchased an early weather warning system for Carroll County.
Each award recipient received a personalized certificate, a bronze, silver or gold lifetime lapel pin depending on total volunteer hours, a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States, and a letter from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.
