A new multi-purpose building is underway at the Burlington Community Park. The facility will replace the need to rent a rent during the annual fall festival, provide space for storage during the winter and a place for various other functions. Monies which helped make the 60'x136' building possible were provided by Carroll County Community Foundation and Burlington Community Club.

Mrs. XX of Flora found two gray sponge mushrooms in her back yard when she was raking leaves last week. The mushrooms happened to be growing right where the dryer was vented from the inside of the house, and she assumes that the warm ground caused them to come up there.
Pauline Heffley of Flora was named Carroll County Senior Queen at the Senior Citizens Center in Flora. She will be competing for the Are Queen title May 18 at the Praise of Age Day in Lafayette. Eight counties are in the area. A state queen will be chosen from the area queens and will reign for a week at the State Fair.

The Rockfield schools closed last Friday with a big dinner and an excellent program. There were over 300 present and the good people of that town and community who are patrons or have been of the Rockfield schools, came with baskets overflowing for their second annual big, last day dinner. Such a dinner it was, too. Twice as much as was needed and had the number been three times greater no one would have gone away without having a bite to eat. This is the way they do things at Rockfield, however. The tax assessor of Liberty Township has found something new in the way of listing dogs. The special rate for a normal dog is $1.
The other day one taxpayer proposed to the assessor that if a regular dog with four legs was taxed $1, a three-quarters dog with one leg missing ought to be limped in for the sum of 75 cents.
The assessor took the matter under advisement, but couldn't see his way clear to make the reduction requested. Still, he thinks he can see the toe-hold of an argument here.
