Carroll County Sheriff's Department investigated a report of a person found in the water in the C&C Beach area early Sunday afternoon. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charles F. Bennett, 84, of C&C Beach Dr., was reportedly found by a passerby who removed him from the water with assistance from a neighbor.

The Indiana Conservation Department, sheriff's department, Indiana State Police, Carroll County EMS, Monticello Fire Department dive team, and the Carroll County Coroner's Office responded to the call.

According to county coroner Jay Dee Cree, an autopsy was conducted Tuesday at the Tippecanoe County Morgue. Results are pending.
