Lemuel R. "Whimpy" Richardson, 74, Monticello, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at the home of his sister, Vicki Leonard.

Born March 1, 1935, in French Lick, he was the son of the late Ephraim and Grace Dixon Richardson. His marriage was to Shelia Young Richardson, who survives.

Mr. Richardson served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1960 and then joined the National Guard.

Also surviving are a daughter, Darcy K. Varda of Monticello; a son, Doug R. Richardson of Tarzana, Calif.; two sisters, Billie Jeffries (husband; Carlos) of Monticello, and Vicki Leonard (husband: Gary) of Monticello.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monticello.
