Big issue - little kids
Comet staff report

Barnyard Boot Camp, a free farm safety day, is planned for children ages 8- 12 on May 16 by The ADM Grain Company-Logansport, chapter of Farm Safety 4 Just Kids, to address important safety issues. This event is free to all children and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Groups will rotate through ten different farm and home hazard stations with hands-on demonstrations to help reinforce safety practices. These stations include: Combine Safety, Meth Lab/Drug Awareness, Fire Safety, First Aid, Grain Handling, Blind Spots and Buckling up, ATV Safety, Electricity Safety, Auger and PTO Safety, and "What if it happened to you?"

Children will learn about these hazards and ways to protect themselves on the farm and at home.

Each year approximately 300 children are killed and 23,500 are injured on farms. By promoting farm safety, ADM hopes to prevent injuries and save lives.
