Comet staff report

The Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post has released statistics for March. Troopers issued 1,419 traffic citations and wrote 1,272 traffic warnings. Troopers also arrested 29 drunk drivers and made 160 criminal arrests. They also issued 50 truck (over 10,000 lbs gross weight) citations

With spring weather approaching, farmers will be out on the roads moving machinery from field to field. Farm machinery only travels at 15 to 25 miles per hour. Be sure to give yourself plenty of room to slow down or even stop for machinery turning into fields. Be sure to give them extra room to maneuver around corners and into driveways for their equipment is wide and long. Watch for the slow moving vehicle sign and be aware of your surroundings.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspected methamphetamine activity by calling the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Tip Hotline at 1- 800-453-4756.
