Carroll Athletic Boosters

Carroll Athletic Boosters recently agreed to pay half of the $3,000 needed to purchase new varsity uniforms for the basketball team. The new jerseys will cost about $100 per set, shirt and short, for a total of $1,500 per color. The school athletic department committed to paying the other half of the costs.

The Boosters are considering the purchase of one or two laptop computers to be used for varsity sports.

Baseball field drainage behind home plate and right field was discussed.

Approval was given to purchase a cover for home plate.

The golf outing fundraiser will be June 7 at the Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello. Tom Hall is chairing the annual event.

The remaining dates for the spring pork burger schedule are May 16, girls conference tourney, and May 26, girls softball sectional.

Carroll County Historical Society

The Carroll County Historical Society board of directors and other invited boards met recently with Executive Director of Indiana Historical Society Jeffery Harris.

Harris presented Ten Basic Responsibilities of Non-Profit Boards, a oneday seminar on creating mission statements, Indiana tax laws, fund raising, volunteerism, managing resources effectively and enhancing an organization's image of members and board members.

County Social Service Luncheon

The Carroll County Social Service luncheon was held April 13.

The Carroll County Social Service Directory is available at the Area IV Agency Office, Brooks Center, 901 Prince William Rd. in Delphi. The Area IV Senior Resource Guide is available for individuals, families and caregivers at 660 N. 36th St. in Lafayette or at the Area IV office in Delphi.

Funds for assistance with utility bills are available through Area IV. For information call (765) 564-6466.

The Homeward Bound Walk will be April 26 from 2-3:30 p.m. Registration begins at 1 at Riehle Plaza in Lafayette. For information or to donate, go to homewardboundindiana. org. The YWCA Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at the Wabash Valley Hospital Mental Health Center. Habitat for Humanity is looking for a qualifying family and lot in Carroll County to begin its next home. For information, contact Don Reef at rocksandridges@ juno.com.

National Alliance for Mental Illness of West Central Indiana (NAMI-WCI) provides a Family-To- Family Support Group the first Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the fourth floor in Room 4-901 of the NAMI-WCI office, located in the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing building, 1508 Tippecanoe St. in Lafayette.
