Purdue Grand Prix to race on a new track

"The Greatest Spectacle in College Racing," the 52nd Purdue Grand Prix, will be held on April 25. The race will be the first on the new track located at the Northwest Athletic Complex at Purdue University.

Community Day, a free event open to the public, will be April 19 from noon to 3:30 p.m. The event is an opportunity for families in the community to see the new track, participate in games and crafts, and get a birds-eye view of the karts while talking to the drivers.

The track will be open to the public April 25 from 9 to 10 a.m. with practices beginning shortly thereafter. Three sprint races of 25 laps each are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The parade, scholarship announcements and driver introductions will be at 2 p.m. The race will begin at 2:30 p.m. with the dropping of the green flag.

Fans need to park at Ross Ade Stadium, Stewart Center and the Co-Rec where buses will run continuously to and from the track from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking will be limited at the facility.
