Delphi runs past Western Boone
The Delphi Community High School boys' and girls' track and field teams opened the year last Wednesday by hosting Western Boone. Both teams came out victorious with the boys winning 82-50 and the girls coming out on top 71-61.
The Oracle men dominated the action by winning 12 of 16 events. Matt Wilcox led the way by finishing first in the 400 meter dash, 200 meter dash, long jump and 1600 meter relay. Joining Wilcox in victory lane were triple winners Ryan Everett, Kris Bender, and J.D. Huffer. Jordan Wagner added two first place performances and Nathan Dubes, A.J. Erskin, and Zach Schnepp each added a victoy.
The girls were paced by freshman Ariel Isley. Isley finished first in the 1600 meter run, 3200 meter run and the 3200 meter relay. Sophomore Grace Currie had two firsts. Single blue ribbon winners were Hannah Evans, Denise Kendall, Tiahna Cartron, Olivia George, Jonell Randle, Allee Flora, and Shawneci Windell.
The Oracles also ran last Thursday traveling to Twin Lakes to take on the Indians and West Lafayette Red Devils. The boys took second and the girls placed third. George finished first in the high jump and Wilcox again was victorious in the long jump.
