The Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) is accepting applications for its 2009 Indiana Youth Investment Awards which recognizes 10 non-profit organizations for their outstanding efforts on behalf of Indiana youth. Applicants may be youth-serving organizations, schools or specific programs that directly serve children and youth.

Winners will receive a $5,000 cash award to be used for professional development and to improve work with youth. Award winners will also receive free admission for two to the Dec. 1 and 2 Indiana Youth Institute's 2009 Kids Count in Indiana Conference.

The awards spotlight individuals and organizations whose innovative approaches to youth development are making a positive difference in the lives of kids.

"In reviewing the applications and visiting the finalists we find dedicated professionals who are making the most of their resources to ensure Hoosier kids can make the most of their talents," IYI President and CEO Bill Stanczykiewicz said. "Holding up these programs for others across the state to see validates their work and serves as an incentive for them to continue working on behalf of our children."

Applications need to be received by IYI at the close of business on June 1.

The new criteria and applications can be obtained at iyi.org/yia or by calling (800) 343-7060.
