Delphi Community Elementary principal Bill Shidler said Tuesday he requested to be reassigned as a teacher. That request was approved at the Monday night meeting of the Delphi Community School Board.

"Bill is still an important individual in our school family," Walker said. "He has been an outstanding leader for our elementary school."

"I asked to be reassigned," he said. "All the kids are happy for me. I've had meetings with them today and I've sent notes home for their parents."

"I could become an administrator again in a few years," Shidler continued. "I've been here for five years and I think the classroom is where the action is for me right now. The school is going in the right direction. But I am looking forward to leading a class again. I am looking forward to becoming rejuvenated."
