During National Library Week (April 12-18) the Flora Library is launching a fun new contest for young adult (YA) readers, The Great Scavenger Hunt Contest.

Over 120 YA and middle grades authors have created a 10-question scavenger hunt (i.e. super fun trivia quiz) for one or more of their books. Scavenger hunts include questions like, "What was the color of Moe's hideous car?" Or, "What is Gemma's favorite comfort food?" Every scavenger hunt also has a special note from the author to give it a personal touch.

To participate, readers (called "hunters") simply read a scavenger hunt book, complete the scavenger hunt, and turn it in to the library. If the hunter gets 8 out of 10 answers correct, they will be entered into a monthly contest.

Come to the library for more information on The Great Scavenger Hunt, and learn how teens and tweens can participate in this fun, easy, and free program.

The theme for the next storytime is "Earth Day." We can all help take care of our planet. Kids will learn simple ways to be "green." Preschool storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.

Hear your favorite James Whitcomb Riley poem read by Carroll Elementary fourth graders when you call the library's Dial-a-Story phone line. Currently playing is Jason Wright performing, "Three Jolly Hunters." Friday the new reader will be Lauren Bush reciting the favorite, "Little Orphant Annie." Call Dial-a- Story anytime at 967-3814.
