Long-time tradition in Burlington

For nearly 50 years the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department has been serving up pancakes and sausage at an "all you can eat" breakfast the department hosts once a year in the fire station. The event started out as a way for the department to pay the mortgage on its building. The mortgage has long been paid off, so funds raised now help the department purchase equipment and other needs. Last Saturday the firemen served 526 breakfasts at the event, accepting donations for the meal that now includes scrambled eggs. Frying sausage in the foreground is fireman John Bogue. Behind him flipping pancakes is fireman Scott Atkisson. Comet photo
