Scrabble tournament to benefit literacy
      A county-wide Scrabble Tournament for Literacy will be held April 23 in the Carroll Elementary cafeteria. The event, sponsored by the Psi Iota Xi chapters in Flora and Delphi, raises money to help with literacy efforts in Carroll County.

Principal to return to classroom
      Delphi Community Elementary principal Bill Shidler said Tuesday he requested to be reassigned as a teacher. That request was approved at the Monday night meeting of the Delphi Community School Board. "Bill is still an important individual in our school family," Walker said. "He has been an outstanding leader for our elementary school.

      In accordance with the new public comments policy adopted by the Delphi Community School Board, comments are taken at the beginning of the meeting before other agenda items. All patron questions were not answered immediately. Some were addressed as the meeting progressed.

Work on wastewater project expected to begin this week in Camden
      Ken Smith of Municipal Civil Corporation reported at last Thursday's meeting of the Camden Town Council that digging for the wastewater upgrade project should begin by April 15. "Everything they need is in place," he said. This will be a project that is out of the public's view for the most part, commented council president Pete Wagoner.

Police to target seatbelt usage in upcoming blitz
      Three law enforcement agencies in Carroll County will be taking part in a rural demonstration project to increase seatbelt usage, particularly in pickup trucks. The targeted enforcement will run from April 24 through May 8. Agencies participating are the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, and Delphi and Flora police departments.

History repeats itself in Lafayette Wednesday
      Following a cry of "we're fed up and we're not gonna take it anymore," and "we are Taxed Enough Already," protesters around the nation will gather Wednesday for an organized act of civil disobedience. Participants will gather on the John T. Myers Bridge in Lafayette from 12 to 2 and from 6 to 8 p.m.

      A SilverSneakers® Mardi Gras king and queen were crowned at the Carroll County YMCA last Wednesday. Winners were Barry Wheeler and Kathryn Reef. The Mardi Gras theme was chosen as a way of promoting the Healthways Silver- Sneakers Fitness Program at the Y.

Family entertainment available this summer
      Historic Prophetstown and the Tippecanoe Storytellers Guild have joined together to provide family entertainment throughout the summer with "Stories in the Council House." The guild will tell stories on the second Saturday night of each month beginning in June and continuing through October.
