The Rev. William Kramer Gros, 72, died March 5, 2009.

Born Nov. 2, 1936, in Delphi, he was the son of Dr. Hubert and Jean Kramer Gros.

Rev. Gros graduated from DePauw University, Greencastle, and from the The General Seminary in New York City. He was ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago in 1964. He served as curate at Church of the Holy Spirit, Lake Forest, Ill., from 1964 to 1967; rector at St. Aban's Norwood Park, Chicago, Ill., from 1967 to 1974; rector of St. Peter's, Sycamore, Ill., from 1974 to 1988; vicar of Church of the Epiphany, Chicago, Ill., from 1988 to 1996; and rector of St. Helena's, Burr Ridge, Ill., from 1996 to 2000.

Rev. Gros retired on Jan. 1, 2000, and worked part-time as a chaplain for Bishop Anderson House, serving at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

He is survived by a nephew, Doug Gribben, of Texas.

His parents and a sister, Louise Casey, all of Delphi, preceded him in death.

A Requiem Mass featuring Mozart's Mass in C was celebrated on April 4 at the Church of the Atonement in Chicago.
