Sharon Lee Whitacre, 60, of Kokomo, passed away at 9:04 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at her residence.

Born July 3, 1948, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Dana Lee and Phyllis Jean Brower. Her marriage was on Sept. 3, 1967, at the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Kokomo, to Robert Vernon Whitacre, who survives.

Mrs. Whitacre was a 1966 graduate of Carroll High School and a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees in education.

She taught third grade at Bon Air Elementary School for 22 years.

Mrs. Whitacre was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are her mother and stepfather, Jean and Robert E. Dague of Flora; two daughters, Shannon Lawler (husband: Stephen) and Shanda Tolen (husband: Tom), all of Kokomo; two sons, Brad Whitacre (wife: Sonya) of Noblesville and Brandon Whitacre (wife: Heather) of Galveston; a brother, Steve Brower of Flora; two stepsisters, Beth Brown of Anderson and Paula Rector (husband: Tom) of Georgia; two stepbrothers, Don Dague of Pendleton and Col. Joe Dague (wife: Annie) of Hawaii; and nine grandchildren, Andrew and Jordyn Lawler, Hayden, Dawson and Delany Anderson, Agnes Tolen, and Alec, Christian and Benjamin Whitacre.

Services were held Monday at the Shiloh United Methodist Church. Pastor Bud Probasco officiated. Burial followed at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.

Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.

Reinke Funeral Home in Flora was in charge of arrangements.
