Residents asked to report roadside trash

Burns Carroll County Commissioners are urging residents to report dumped trash to the sheriff's department at (765) 564-2413 for investigation.
Sheriff Tony Burns said Tuesday his office will try to determine who dumped the trash. He said after investigation by his office or the Department of Natural Resources, reports are filed with the county prosecutor's office for further action.
Dumping trash, Burns said, is a crime of littering, which is a Class B infraction or a Class A infraction if dumped along a
body of water.
Burns said an inmate road crew is being formed and will soon begin to pick up trash along roads in the county. He said his department is working in conjunction with the highway department for rubbish removal.
