Chapter 89 CIRCUS CITY SAMS will be camping for the weekend starting April 17 at Caboose Lake Campground near Remington. Hosts for the weekend are Ron and Carol Koenes and Larry and Ruth Yoder. Students from 11 area high schools including Rossville have been invited to submit works for a JURIED SHOW at The Art Museum, 102 S. Tenth St., Lafayette. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through May 2. Information about the exhibition and the museum are found at www.artlafayette.org.

The LATINO STUDENT UNION OF IVY TECH Community College, Lafayette, will present Awaken to the DREAM, an informative forum tonight, April 8, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the NCHS Auditorium in Ivy Hall. The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act provides a pathway to permanent residency for undocumented immigrants who arrived in the United States as children (aged 15 or under) and who attend college or serve in the military for at least two years. The forum is free and open to the public.

ALTERNATIVE FUELS DAY sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College for area high school automotive students will be April 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Lafayette campus. Lectures and demonstrations on alternative and sustainable/renewable energy will be presented. For information contact Tom McCool at (765) 269-5133.

A TAX-DAY TEA PARTY will be held April 15 at the Myers Pedestrian Bridge over the Wabash River in Lafayette. The event will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. The purpose of the gathering is to protest the excessive government spending resulting in taxation. SUSAN WITTIG ALBERT, author of the China Bayles Mysteries, will be speak April 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Monticello Public Library located at 321 W. Broadway St. The event sponsored by the Friends of the Library is free and open to the public.
