Flora authorizes environmental study
      Carroll County Economic Development Executive Director Daryl Smith's requested that Flora authorize an environmental study at Monday night's town council meeting. He said the study is needed to apply for Stimulus funds to improve the wastewater system.

Registration begins for Little Miss & Mister Contest
      The 31st Annual Little Miss and the 14th Annual Little Mister Contest will be held July 12 at 7 p.m. in the show arena at the Carroll County 4- H Fairgrounds in Flora. To be eligible to compete, contestants must be at least five years of age and cannot have reached his/her eighth birthday before Aug. 5, 2009. There is a limit of 30 contestants for the pageant.

St. Elizabeth Hospice offers grief support
      St. Elizabeth Hospice will offer three grief support meetings throughout the spring. The meetings are free and open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. The sessions will be facilitated by Melissa Nelson, hospice bereavement coordinator and Amanda Brown, MSW, hospice social worker.

Giancola is newest Delphi officer
      The search ended for the newest Delphi Police officer when 21-year-old Darron Giancola from Buck Creek reported to work Thursday. Chief Justin Darling introduced him to the city and the city building his first day. Giancola graduated from Harrison High School in 2006 and from Vincennes University in 2008 with an Associates' Degree in law enforcement.

Dust control deadline set
      The deadline to request 2009 dust control has been set for May 1. Residents who live on gravel roads and who want the county to provide control on 300 feet in front of their residences must call the highway department at (574) 967-4244 to be placed on the list.

Residents asked to report roadside trash
      Carroll County Commissioners are urging residents to report dumped trash to the sheriff's department at (765) 564-2413 for investigation. Sheriff Tony Burns said Tuesday his office will try to determine who dumped the trash.

Family entertainment available this summer
      Historic Prophetstown and the Tippecanoe Storytellers Guild have joined together to provide family entertainment throughout the summer with "Stories in the Council House." The guild will tell stories on the second Saturday night of each month beginning in June and continuing through October.

      The USDA Farm Service Agency in Indiana has determined that producers who did not obtain crop insurance or Non-insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage for 2008 can become eligible for 2008 disaster assistance programs authorized by the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008.
