Carroll County Historical Society Board of Directors and other invited boards met recently with the Executive Director of the Indiana Historical Society, Jeffery Harris. He presented a one-day seminar on setting up historical boards and making them work.

The meeting was offered through the Carroll County Historical Museum. It was held at Security Federal, Delphi, sponsor of the event.

Attending were 11 members of the CCHS board, Dan Mc- Cain from the Wabash and Erie Canal Association, and three members of the White County Historical Society.

In talking about the responsibilities of nonprofit boards, Harris involved the group in role-playing.

Some of the topics covered in the seminar were: mission statements, Indiana tax laws, fund raising, volunteerism, managing resources effectively, enhancing the organization's image, and the active participation of not only boards, but their members also.
