Delmar C. Bailey

Born April 29, 1918, in Howard County, he was the son of Charles and Esther Garrison Bailey. He attended Ervin Township School in Howard County. His marriage was on June 11, 1939, in Howard County, to Carrie Ellen Robertson, who survives.
Mr. Bailey was a farmer in Howard and Carroll counties. He worked a number of years as Carroll County Area Plan Zoning Administrator.
He also served as county Republican party chairman in the 1950s and 1960s.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Radnor United Methodist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and speaking for the Gideons International.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and yard work.
Above all, he loved spending time with his wife and family.
Also surviving are two daughters, Janet Stookey of Thorntown and Colleen Royal of Lebanon; a son, Darrell Bailey (wife: Janice) of Delphi; a sister-in-law, Helen Bailey of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were two children, two sonsin law, and four brothers.
Services will be held today, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at the Radnor United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Geetingsville Cemetery.
