A new, but historic-looking, building will adorn Canal Park if local visionaries have their way.

Plans have been revealed for a 9,122 sq. ft. building to be called the Canal's Community and Interpretive Center.

Betty Ward, Delphi, has been selected to be a contestant on the "Hoosier Millionaire" television show.

Carroll senior Dickie Bishop shattered over decadeold records in the 3200 meter event at the Bomber-Boiler Relays last Friday.

His time of 9:20 broke the 13-year record for schools size 3A and below and also broke the 11-year-old record for 4A and 5A schools.

Track & Field News presently ranks Bishop seventh nationally among high school runners at 2 miles.

25 YEARS AGO

Delphi Community High School senior Guy Selleck has been chosen by the Indiana State Wrestling Association to represent Delphi and Indiana in a cultural exchange wrestling trip to Venezuela.

U.S. Senator Dan Quayle, who spoke to 350 attending the annual Lincoln Day Banquet, was presented the first 1984 Hog Jog shirt. The senator ran in the event in 1980.

The Carroll County Comets won the state championship in the Indiana Special Olympics basketball tourney in Terre Haute.

50 YEARS AGO

The old Armory seems to be another thing, like the weather, that everyone talks about but no one does anything about it. One suggestion that seems to have considerable merit is that the city buy the remaining half from the state and own the entire building which would be cheaper than building a new fire station. It also would provide the city clerk with much better working conditions.

There is use for such a building for public meetings and special events and portions might be made into income property or for civic uses according to the person making the suggestion.

75 YEARS AGO

54 more CWA workers will be removed this Friday from the rolls in Carroll county. All of the men have been reduced to a 40 cent-hour. When the cuts first began to be made, there were 507 on the CWA. 204 will have been removed Friday leaving a total of 303 working next week.

100 YEARS AGO

After a very successful term of school, Cutler will have their annual commencement exercises on next Thursday night, April 1. The class that is now so near to set out with other worlds to conquer is one of the most intelligent that has ever gone forth from that institution and has eight members, as follows: Ralph Whetzel, Vera Plank, Inez Briney, Omer Wilson, Ruth Hestler, Nellie Tinkle, Philip Miller, and Mage Ayres.

Farmers are preparing to sow oats and if the weather continues favorable a considerable acreage will be sown next week. Fields are dry and in exceptionably fine condition for seeding.
