Carroll FFA members going to state contest

Carroll FFA Chapter participated in the District V Leadership Contests at Clinton Central High School on March 12. The chapter had an outstanding night with 12 individuals or teams advancing to the state level.

Those taking home first place in the leadership contests are as follows: Travis Martin - Male Leadership. Sarah Griffin - Female Leadership. Jill Griffin - Essay. Alisha Hedrick - Job Interview. Travis Martin and Chandler Keown - Horticulture Demonstration. Malena Zook - Farm Business Management Demonstration. Megan Ayres and Alisha Hedrick - Animal Science Demonstration. Trey Overholser, Chad Griffin, Jeremy Hayes, Dan Budreau, Ricky Burns, Justin Barbour, Andy Eller and Jarid Robertson - Novice Chapter Meeting Team. Chandler Keown - Agriculture Education Proficiency. Jarvis Simmons - Swine Proficiency. Holly Peters - Nursery Operations Proficiency. Susanna Taylor - Home and Community Development Proficiency.

Justin Moffitt was named the District V Star in Agriculture Placement, and Sarah Griffin was named District V Star Farmer. These awards are based on the students' SAE programs as well as their leadership in both school and community activities. They will now be interviewed and will compete for the Section Star in their respective areas.

The chapter also had many other participants placing in the top three at the contests.

Justin Barbour placed second in Freshman Public Speaking, and Will Taylor placed second in Discovery Public Speaking.
