Circa 1986 Betty L. Handy, 80, of Flora, died at 7:40 a.m. March 5, 2009, at her residence.

Born Feb. 13, 1929, in Flora, she was the daughter of Chalmer and Mabel Pullen Allen. She married Charles Richard Handy on May 22, 1950, in Burnettsville, and he survives.

She was a homemaker, and liked to travel.

Also surviving are two sons, R. Keith Handy (wife: Pam) of Lafayette and Terry Handy (wife: Linda) of Flora; one daughter, JoLynda Handy of Flora; one brother, Keith Allen of Flora; one sister, Marcella McWhorter of Canton, Ill.; five grandchildren, Windy Trent (husband: Todd), Tracy L. Brewer (husband: Jim), Kevin Handy, Chad Handy, and Terra James (husband: Shawn), all of Flora; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Max J. Allen.

Services were Monday at Baker Funeral Home with Creta Hollis officiating. Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.
