Oracle swimmers end season at state
The DCHS boys swim team finished its season Friday evening at the state swim meet.
The 200 medley relay team of Kyle Price, Clint McLeland, Andrew Burton and Jeremy Sterrett moved up four spots, finishing 24th with a time of 1:41.21. The 200 freestyle relay team of Jared Kelley, Sterrett, Price and Burton fell to 32nd with a time of 1:33.53. In the 100 backstroke Kyle Price went 55.34 for 23rd place, moving up a spot.
Burton had set goals of making state cut times in the 50 and 100 freestyles and finishing in the top 16 in both events. He obtained the state cut times (21.98 and 48.18) in both events, but finished 17th in the 50 with a time of 21.78 and 18th in the 100 with a time of 47.78. The state cut times are a three-year average of 16th place. Burton moved up from 29th in the 50 and 20th in the 100. Both swims are school records.
Andy Flora place 15th at last Tuesday's diving regional. Flora would have had to place 8th or better to move on to the state meet
