1976 Carroll High School graduate, Lyle Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jenkins of Flora, returned to Clinton County Sunday amid freezing temperatures and blowing snow.
The cold, however, didn't erase the warmth he felt last week as he helped natives I Haiti for the fifth year. He travels to Haiti annually to a small clinic in the town of Darbonne.
This year, he helped fill 4,800 prescriptions in five days and gave innumerable B- 12 vitamins and penicillin shots to those coming to the clinic.
Jenkins is a pharmacist at Hook's West in Frankfort.

Talent with a bow and arrow proved very valuable to the Public Service Commission this week. After the ice and water had caused a tree to hit and burn out a wire across Deer Creek at the bridge just west of Delphi, Ralph Melin and his men "racked their brains" to find a method of getting a new wire across the creek. Finally they thought of Morris Craig, a state archery champion but being out of the state, his wife, Joan, a champion herself, in the art of archery responded to the call. Finally, with the assistance of Jack Reynolds, an arrow was shot across the 200 feet of raging waters. Attached to the arrow was a heavy cord. Then a rope was fastened to the cord and pulled across. Finally a wire was attached to the rope and pulled across. Workmen soon had the wire in place and service was restored.

This will give Rockfield and community banking service again. The old Rockfield bank is in the process of liquidation.
Probably the next project that will be asked from the government on CWA work will be the cleaning of the old canal through here. This is one of the most unhealthy spots in Delphi at the present time. Not only would the removal of the water add to the healthiness of the city, but it would also improve the appearance of the edge of town.
