Gertrude M. Bowman
Gertrude Marie Bowman, 97, of Batesville, formerly of Carroll County, died at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12, 2009, at The Waters Nursing Facility in Batesville.
Born Aug. 14, 1911, in North Dakota, she was the daughter of Alexander and Allie Mae Clements Hylton. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1929. On July 23, 1931, in Flora, she married Milton D. Bowman, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2006.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bowman had resided in Jackson Township for many years, moving to Batesville seven years ago.
She was a member of the Delphi Presbyterian Church, Carroll Chapter No. 475 Order of the Eastern Star, Camden Literary Club, Jackson Township Extension Homemakers Club, and Psi Iota Xi.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Crone (husband: Jerry) of Batesville and Jeane Swanson (husband: Ned) of Colville, Wash.; six grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Cree Funeral Home, Camden. Pastor Bill McLean of the Delphi Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Camden Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to today's service.
